An Obsidian Bases kanban board, right in your Mac menu bar

Obsidian Bases is the built-in way to treat your notes like a database: pick a property, group by it, and you get a board of cards. On a Mac it's a great place to plan. The catch is the same as any in-app view — you have to open Obsidian and switch to it.

BaseBar reads the exact same task notes (a folder plus a status: property) and draws that board in your menu bar. One click, from any app, and it's there.

Inside Obsidian: enable the Bases core plugin, point a base at your tasks folder, and group by your status property. A community kanban view turns those groups into columns.

In the menu bar with BaseBar: point BaseBar at the same folder (or your .base file). It reads the columns and cards and shows the board on click. Drag a card between columns and BaseBar rewrites only the status: line in that note — so Obsidian and BaseBar always agree.

BaseBar has no account, no sync, and no cloud. It only reads and writes the Markdown files in your vault folder, locally. It works for your Obsidian vault and is not affiliated with Obsidian.
